Our Mission

The Holistic Health Ministry (HHM) mission is to raise awareness through mental health education and to provide support opportunities for healing holistically, restoring one’s body, mind and soul.

For All Journeys

Humans are created in the image of God called to love God with all dimensions of our being and through our relationships (Mark 12:30-31). Mental health issues are sometimes spoken of in whispers, masking the true impact to the whole person and facilitating stigma.

With our EC Community Groups and other team ministries, the Holistic Health Ministry is building a community of hope in Jesus Christ and connecting resources with people on a journey of healing whether temporary or long-term.

Companionship Volunteers and Men's Support Group (MSG)

The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:29 – 37): “And who is my neighbor?”…. Jesus said, “Go and do likewise.”

Companionship and the MSG are a special way of acting on our concern for another person on a journey of healing and faith. HHM's Companionship offers a safe relationship that serves as an extension to the KCPC EC, Soon/Community Groups and ministries. MSG provides bi-weekly opportunities for men's gathering and support.

Who?

Companionship: Volunteers can be anyone who is a member of the KCPC EC, desiring to partner with an individual’s healing process moving toward becoming well and whole. The volunteers will be provided with HHM’s basic engagement training/protocols for building companionship with the person and his/her care providers as needed.

MSG: A special bi-weekly meeting opportunity for men to gather and share each other's stories by men whose desire is to walk the faith journey together.

How? Companionship is the practice of listening to a person’s story lovingly without judgment, listening especially for the words of faith and hope. Companions may share the journey with each other side by side briefly or over a period of time. Companions may offer to be with the person at an appointment, provide a community resource, make hospital/home visitations as needed, or offer a healing prayer at various settings such as on Sunday before or after the EC worship service.

MSG uses the same practice as the Companionship to support each other within the group.

Matt 18:12-14. “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?... So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”

Jesus cares for the one in distress. We respond to a call for recovery by Jesus for anyone in need of physical and/or inner healing. HHM is not counseling or curing. We affirm as a witness to healing by the power of the Holy Spirit, providing a practical healing support ministry.

We listen compassionately, without judgment, and provide appropriate support, in coordination with our community groups, ministries and EC pastors. When requested, we respond to the person and family on a journey of healing/recovery with our ministry of presence (bearing one another’s burdens), gatherings, home/hospital visitations, healing prayers and various opportunities to care for one another.

Hospital Visitation Request

Matt 25:38-40 “’And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’… ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me’.”

If requested, HHM will visit a EC member who has been admitted to the hospital. In addition, if requested by a E member, and the patient gives us permission, we will visit the EC family member if the patient is not a member of any other church. Our visit includes caring, sharing and praying with the patient.

If interested in joining HHM as a Hospital Visitation volunteer member, please contact HHM. The team will consist of two people per each team who will be available for hospital visits from time to time. The team members will be provided with basic training and standard protocols that will be followed during visitations.

By Amy Simpson. In Troubled Minds, Amy Simpson, whose family knows the trauma and bewilderment of mental illness, reminds us that people with mental illness are our neighbors and our brothers and sisters in Christ, and she shows us the path to loving them well and becoming a church that loves God with whole hearts and whole souls, with the strength we have and with minds that are whole as well as minds that are troubled.
