Good Neighbor

Our Mission

Good Neighbor Ministry is a special needs department where we serve our brothers and sisters with physical and/or intellectual disability(ies).

Good Neighbor is branched into three departments: 1) Sunday School 2) Yedam Respite Care Ministry, 3) Evergreen Friends

Good Neighbor Sunday Worship

[Volunteers Needed]

Students come to worship God together on Sundays during 3rd service (12:15PM to 1:30PM). They are paired with an assigned teacher who becomes their "shadow" to help them during their time at Good Neighbor. Responsibilities are to greet them as they walk in, worship with them, teach weekly Sunday lessons, and make crafts together.

Yedam Respite Care Ministry

[Volunteers Needed]

Yedam students are a mixture of KCPC Good Neighbor students and non-members. This outreach program is an invitation for non-church members to receive the benefits of the programs and allow the students to hear the gospel. The purpose of this program is to provide respite care to the parents of Yedam students. The program runs from 10:30AM to 1:30PM. Teachers are expected to be there from 9:30PM to 2PM to help with worship, bible study, arts and crafts, lunch, and other various activities including but not limited to physical therapy, games, nail art, music, and etc.

Evergreen Friends

Evergreen Friends include two main events at Good Neighbor. In collaboration with the MD and VA KADPA (Korean American Disabled People's Association), we hold Camp Evergreen and Christmas Party annually. Camp Evergreen usually takes place on the second weekend of August from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon and the Christmas Party is on the first Saturday evening in December. Volunteers are recruited close to the preparation of these two events.

Volunteers

Newcomers are welcome to assist assigned teachers as some students need two adults to care for them. However, as we need teachers to teach the bible study materials, we ask that our teachers are members in training.
